Top European radiotherapy honour bestowed on Aarhus professor

Clinical professor Cai Grau, Head of Research at the Danish Centre for Particle Therapy, has been bestowed with the esteemed ESTRO Breur Award, recognizing his significant contributions to the field of European radiotherapy.

The Breur award was formally presented at the opening session of the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO)-congress’, where clinical professor Cai Grau from the Department of Clinical Medicine delivered the illustrious Breur Award Lecture titled “From innovation to action, together.”

Cai Grau has long championed both national and international collaborations within radiotherapy innovation, research, and clinical trials. He played crucial roles within ESTRO, including serving as the chair of the Health Economics Task Force, a board member, and current co-chairing the European Particle Therapy Network in ESTRO.

“In my talk, I described some recent examples of how we work together nationally and internationally to create evidence for innovations in radiotherapy,” Cai Grau said.

Notably, the professor has been instrumental in establishing a robust foundation for collaboration in research and implementation of proton therapy within Denmark.
