Have you ever had a dental problem that affected your daily routine? It can have a significant impact on your well-being, and without proper care, oral diseases can become a serious and detrimental factor for a person’s overall quality of life. In his research, newly appointed professor Mario Vianna Vettore delves into the intricate ways socioeconomic factors affect oral health and quality of life.

He investigates, among other things, how oral health problems affect different population groups, such as distinct age groups, vulnerable groups, and those living under different social conditions.

“Determining the complex causes behind oral health problems is a central element in tackling the occurrence of most common oral diseases, including dental caries. Public health research can support the development of health promotion, preventive strategies and public health policies to reduce the number of people with oral problems with positive impact on their well-being and quality of life,” says Mario Vianna Vettore.

He adds that the professorship gives him the opportunity to offer contemporary and relevant teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students at Aarhus University, covering various topics in dentistry and public health.
