Associate Professor Oleguer Plana-Ripoll has just been awarded a 1.5 million euro grant from the European Research Council (ERC). The grant will fund a new research project that will focus not only on the complex interplay between social inequality and mental health but also include a methodological component.

The aim is to develop data-driven techniques to improve the design of epidemiological studies based on health registers. This could represent a significant breakthrough in epidemiological research, emphasizes Oleguer Plana-Ripoll:

"The project will provide groundbreaking knowledge on social inequality in mental health, which can help us better guide new policies in the area and reduce their negative consequences. In other words, the research we are conducting now could have a major impact on future health policy initiatives," he says.

The associate professor expresses great joy and pride in receiving the prestigious grant:

"It is a tremendous honor to be awarded an ERC Starting Grant, which will allow me to expand my research group. This grant is the most prestigious award for early-career researchers in Europe, and I see it as a recognition of the good work our research group is doing. I feel privileged to work with many talented students and colleagues on such an important topic."
