Congratulations to the lecturers of the year
The students have voted, and the award for lecturers of the year 2024 has been presented across the faculty's programs to educators who have done an extraordinary job over the past year. See the recipients here:
In the lecture halls and classrooms of Health, a wide array of talented educators are ready to equip students with new knowledge, critical thinking skills, and practical experience. Each year, students have the opportunity to honor the exceptional lecturers who make learning especially engaging and meaningful.
The lecturers of the year are chosen by the students of each program. In addition to the honor, the awardees receive a diploma and a check for 5,000 DKK.
Here are this year’s recipients:
Associate Professor Stefan Nygaard Hansen from the Master’s Program in Health Sciences.
Students say about Stefan:
“Stefan Nygaard Hansen was my statistics instructor in the second semester. Statistics was the most challenging subject for me, but Stefan created a safe learning environment where it felt natural to ask questions—even those you think might be ‘silly.’"
“Stefan explains concepts well and is very patient when we ask questions. He takes the time to listen and explains things multiple times until he is sure we understand. You can tell he genuinely wants us to get the most out of his teaching."
“Stefan is not just an expert in his field but also an amazing communicator who makes complex topics manageable and practical. His teaching has not only been educational but also inspiring: his passion for the subject is contagious.”
Associate Professor Kim Moesgaard Iburg from Public Health Science.
Students say about Kim:
“What makes Kim a special lecturer is not only his passion for his subject but also his ability to understand and engage his students. He meets students at their level and makes an extraordinary effort to create an inspiring learning environment. Kim works tirelessly to bridge the gap between instructors and students, making his teaching both relevant and relatable to everyone.”
Dental Hygienist Charlotte Huber from Dental Hygiene – Department of Dentistry and Oral Health.

“His passion for his field is evident in his teaching, and students appreciate his dedication—especially his thorough feedback, both collectively in class and individually during writing exercises.”
Clinical Professor Torben Steiniche – Medicine – Pathology.
Students say about Torben:
“This isn’t the first time Torben Steiniche has been nominated and chosen as lecturer of the year by medical students, and it’s not surprising. His teaching in pathology is meticulous, thorough, and highly respectful of student input and suggestions—which he always welcomes."
“Torben does everything to accommodate his students. He listens to our feedback and is always ready to answer questions, big or small. You can feel the immense effort he puts into ensuring that as many students as possible succeed in pathology each semester. If anyone could convince me to become a pathologist, it’s this man! His passion for his field, excellent communication skills, and ability to make the subject memorable are extraordinary. On behalf of the medical students at Aarhus University: Thank you so much, Torben!”
Lecturers of the Year 2024
At Health, we celebrate educators who go above and beyond. To this end, the faculty leadership has introduced a teaching award for instructors at Health.
The winners are chosen by the students, with one recipient selected per study board. In cases where a study board oversees multiple programs, the award may be shared among several lecturers.
Senior Lecturer Britt Hansen Bomberg from Dentistry - Department of Dentistry and Oral Health.
Students say about Britt:
“When you have Britt, you forget you’re at university. All the pressure, stress, and expectations disappear. Learning takes place in a humorous, formative, and safe environment. She is approachable, helpful, and everything else you could wish for—everyone should have a Britt in their life."
“Britt has contributed to an incredibly good start for us in our first semester. She creates a learning space filled with good energy and safety. It’s always exciting to attend her lectures. She is always ready to help—and she’s great at it. Moreover, she is a truly wonderful person who goes the extra mile for her students.
