Who will represent academic and administrative staff on Aarhus University's board? And who will advise the Dean’s office on everything from research to education and collaboration by sitting at the table in the Academic Council? It's election time at Aarhus University, and this time, there will be contested elections for several of the positions. Learn more about what you're voting for here and see all the candidates.

What we vote for

Academic Council:

The Academic Council advises the Dean on research, education, and collaboration. This means that the Academic Council helps influence the direction the faculty should take.

For example, the council advises the dean on:

The faculty's strategic issues/focus areas
The faculty's budget and budget principles
Strategic research and education areas and plans for knowledge exchange
Quality assurance and development of the faculty's research environment, programs, PhD programs, and research-based teaching

The Academic Council also forms appointment committees when lecturers and professors need to be hired, and the council grants PhD and doctoral degrees.

Boards of studies

The Boards of studies are responsible for quality assurance and development of the programs and consist of both students and staff. They propose and make changes to study regulations, and contribute to shaping strategies for areas such as teaching, study environment, and the academic development of the programs.

Ph.D. Committee:

The committee advises the gradute school's management and consists of seven academic representatives and six students. The committee develops guidelines for the graduate school, makes recommendations for the approval of Ph.D. projects, and advises the Dean's Office on PhD programs at Health.

The Aarhus University Board:

The Board is the highest authority at Aarhus University and represents its interests as an educational and research institution. The Board establishes guidelines for the university's organisation and sets long-term goals for its activities and development. The Board consists of 11 members, two of whom are elected from the university's academic staff, one member elected by the technical-administrative staff, two student representatives, and six members appointed from outside. This year the two seat for academic representatives and the one seat for a technical-administrative representative is up for election.
