The Bagger-Sørensen Foundation’s Young Researcher Award is awarded to researchers under the age of 40 who have delivered an exceptional contribution. This year, the prize goes to two researchers from the Department of Public Health, both of whom have gained international recognition for their groundbreaking research.

Adam Hulman is being honoured for his work at the intersection of health data, artificial intelligence, and diabetes. He develops clinical tools that can predict long-term complications of diabetes, such as cardiovascular disease, thereby contributing to improved prevention and treatment for people living with diabetes.

He heads the Machine Learning & Clinical Prediction Lab, where he and colleagues from various disciplines develop and test advanced statistical and machine learning methods.

Julie W. Dreier receives the award for her register-based research into neurological and psychiatric disorders in children. She has demonstrated how factors related to pregnancy and early childhood influence the development of conditions such as autism and ADHD. Her work has also highlighted how children with these diagnoses perform in school and later in life.
