Spirits were high and catering sublime on Wednesday afternoon 20 April, as the inauguration of Health’s new dean was celebrated in the Ambulatory.
The toastmaster of the day was Vice-Dean for Research Hans Erik Bøtker, who led the ceremony with a steady hand.
Rector Brian Bech Nielsen called Anne-Mette Hvas a researcher with a capital ‘R’. He praised her, among other things, for an impressive start in the position of dean and for her long-term commitment to working with diversity and gender equality at the university.
Medical director at Aarhus University Hospital Claus Thomsen appealed to continue the strong clinical collaboration, which helps to place both the university hospital and the Department of Clinical Medicine at the top of the world rankings.
The head of the Department of Clinical Medicine Jørgen Frøkiær described Anne Mette-Hvas as knowledgeable, ambitious and impatient - in the best sense of the word.
Professor Ida Vogel compared her longtime colleague and friend to the yellow buildings of the University Park, which she sees as brave, practical and economical.
The dean wrapped up the event herself by emphasizing how much she looks forward to setting the direction for the faculty in the coming years. Among her key issues, she mentioned the internationalization, collaboration across disciplines and a good study and work environment with a special focus on gender equality and diversity.
