The honorary prize is awarded to the best dissertation and was presented in December 2025 in connection with the completion of the Master’s programme in Clinical Trials.

As part of the programme, participants develop an independent clinical trial concept and prepare a full trial protocol, which is assessed by external examiners.

“I am very grateful for the award. The Master’s programme at Oxford has provided me with a solid academic foundation for working with randomised clinical trials,” says Morten Schmidt.

In his research, Morten Schmidt has a particular focus on how randomised trials and health registries can be integrated to generate more robust, practice-relevant evidence for the benefit of patients and the healthcare system.

The Armitage Prize is named after Professor Emeritus Jane Armitage, an internationally recognised clinical researcher who has made a significant contribution to the development of modern cardiovascular research.
