Medical student receives Queen Margrethe II’s travel grant for clinical placement in Australia

Amalie Quist Rousing is a medical student at Health. She has now been awarded Queen Margrethe II’s travel grant of 25,000 DKK. The funds will be used to finance a clinical placement at an emergency department in Brisbane, Australia.

Queen Margrethe II’s travel grant was established in 2010 as a gift to Her Majesty Queen Margrethe on the occasion of the Queen’s 70th birthday. The grant is awarded in connection with Aarhus University's annual celebration on September 13, 2024.

As a graduate student at Health, Amalie Quist Rousing has distinguished herself as a promising young researcher with a particular focus on cystic fibrosis – an inherited genetic disorder primarily affecting the lungs.

She is already a co-author on several scientific articles and has presented her research at international conferences. Additionally, she works as a research assistant at the Department of Biomedicine and is a project coordinator for a clinical study at Aarhus University Hospital.

In addition to her academic achievements, Amalie Quist Rousing has a strong connection to international healthcare work. She has previously completed a clinical placement at Ilulissat Hospital in Greenland and is active in the International Medical Cooperation Committee (IMCC), where she has served as a local leader for a project in Ghana. Moreover, she volunteers at the "Teddy Bear Hospital," where she helps improve children's experiences within the healthcare system.

With Queen Margrethe II’s travel grant in hand, she will travel to Brisbane, Australia, to undertake a clinical placement at an emergency department.
