This year’s theme, “Shedding light on cardio-renal diseases – new approaches reveal new insights”, forms the framework for the meeting.

Dean Anne-Mette Hvas will open the day, followed by a welcome from the network’s co-chairs, Associate Professor Emma Börgeson and Clinical Associate Professor Roni Ranghøj Nielsen.

Three sessions focusing on mechanisms, progression, and new methods

The first session focuses on fibrosis in the heart and kidneys. Professor Katja Zeppenfeld from Leiden University and Professor Rikke Nørregaard from the Department of Clinical Medicine will present new insights into disease mechanisms and models for studying kidney disease.

The second session addresses how disease progression can be slowed. Professor Andreas Linkermann from Heidelberg University, Associate Professor Julian Ochala from the University of Copenhagen, and Clinical Professor Caroline Kistorp from Rigshospitalet and the University of Copenhagen will provide perspectives from both basic science and clinical research.

The third session highlights new methods for understanding disease across time and space. Professor Rafael Kramann from RWTH Aachen University and Associate Professor Neena Kalia from the University of Birmingham will present, among other topics, the application of advanced genomic methods and research into the heart’s microcirculation.

The scientific sessions are complemented by contributions from junior researchers from Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital.

Posters, flash talks, and cross-disciplinary engagement

Poster sessions and flash talks are a central part of the programme, giving PhD students and junior researchers the opportunity to present their work and engage in academic dialogue with colleagues. The best contributions will be recognised at the closing reception.

The annual meeting brings together researchers and clinicians across specialties and provides a platform for sharing results, discussing methods, and strengthening collaboration within the cardiovascular field.
