Health inequality has been a significant topic in public debate in recent years as well as a central theme in Professor Helle Terkildsen Maindal's research. According to her, citizens' varying levels of health literacy is a crucial element in addressing health inequalities.

We are far from equally equipped to navigate the healthcare system, understand our options and rights, and decode the messages we receive from healthcare providers.

This inequality is something Helle Terkildsen Maindal has worked to address through a major collaboration with the National Board of Health. The aim of this collaboration is to better equip healthcare professionals to meet, treat, and communicate with people who have low health literacy.

In the video below, you can hear about her experience with the collaboration and why she views it as one of the most meaningful things one can do as a researcher.
