The organization and framework are still being developed, but three staff members are already in place in the new unit, ready to help Health researchers succeed with their grant applications.

The sound of tools and the scent of fresh paint currently fill the hallways beneath the Department of Dentistry and Oral Health. While the construction workers put the finishing touches on the renovation of office and meeting spaces, Health’s new research support unit is taking shape.
And even though the physical framework and organizational structure are still under development, Division Manager Anne Cathrine Thorup is already encouraging researchers at Health and the faculty’s affiliated hospitals to make use of the unit.
“Although not everything is in place yet, we are ready to assist with research funding, so don’t hesitate to reach out to us,” she says.
Specialized support
Health Research Support was created to offer more specialized assistance with grant applications.
By being closer to the faculty’s daily life and specific needs, the unit can tailor its services to researchers and administrative staff.
Two familiar faces are already onboard in the new unit. Anne Pintz and Ulrik Korff both come from the university’s central research support unit, FSE, which will maintain a close collaboration with Health Research Support.
At the same time, Anne Cathrine Thorup is actively recruiting additional staff to complete the unit. Job postings for two advisor positions in the department were published in November, and interested candidates can find them on the university’s website. The application deadline is December 16, 2024.
“I encourage everyone interested to apply. We expect to be fully staffed by early spring, which will allow us to begin developing the department to provide even more focused and effective support in the future,” she says.
This means that researchers are welcome to contact Health Research Support not only if they have a specific application in mind.
The Head of Function is also open to hearing from researchers or administrative staff with ideas or suggestions on how the unit can improve its services.
“This is the time to adjust our direction and ensure that our efforts are tailored to researchers’ needs, so I encourage everyone to reach out—whether to get assistance or to provide input on what’s important for the department to focus on,” says Anne Cathrine Thorup.
