Health appoints new Clinical Professor in the fight against brain tumors in children
Children and young people with aggressive brain tumors now have a strong ally in Aarhus. Katja von Hoff has recently been appointed as a clinical professor of pediatric oncology at the Department of Clinical Medicine, where she will work to improve treatments for the most vulnerable patients.

Katja von Hoff’s research aims to enhance treatment options for children and adolescents with brain tumors through international collaboration and the development of new treatment methods.
"There is a great need to find better treatments for children and young people with aggressive brain tumors. Some of these tumors are well-known, while others are rare, newly discovered, and particularly aggressive, making it challenging to establish an effective treatment plan," says Katja von Hoff. She continues:
"Over the next five years, we will focus on gaining a better understanding of rare and newly discovered tumor types. This knowledge will help us tailor existing treatments to better fit the individual needs of patients and develop broadly applicable treatment recommendations."
In addition to her research, Katja von Hoff looks forward to contributing to teaching at Aarhus University. Her professorship will create more research opportunities for bachelor’s and master’s students interested in specializing in brain tumors in children.
"My international research experience allows me to strengthen teaching and create an active learning platform for students. I hope that my professorship can inspire more young researchers to engage in this important field," says Katja von Hoff.
