Four research talents at Health honored with Student Research Prize
There was a joyful and proud atmosphere in the air as four students received the Health Student Research Prize for their remarkable research projects.

The Health Student Research Prize is presented annually to recognize and highlight the breadth of student research. It is awarded to students who have distinguished themselves through outstanding written contributions.
The four prize recipients’ projects span sports medicine, genetics, dentistry, and psychiatry:
Jesper Schuster Brandt Frandsen from the Department of Public Health investigated how sudden increases in running distance affect the risk of overuse injuries in his master's thesis. His research shows that a single run exceeding 10% of the longest run in the past month significantly increases the risk of injury.
Ditte Kamille Rasmussen from the Department of Biomedicine researched the genetic disease achromatopsia, which causes color blindness and vision impairment. Her work identifies several previously unknown gene mutations that are likely disease-related and supports the potential for gene therapy.
Laurits Astrup Kaaber from the Department of Dentistry and Oral Health examined the use of low-dose cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in dental implant procedures. His research demonstrates that low-dose scans can provide results as precise as traditional X-rays, potentially reducing patients’ radiation exposure.
Charlotte Steen Duholm from the Department of Clinical Medicine conducted a study mapping how children with specific OCD-related symptoms have a higher risk of not fully responding to cognitive behavioral therapy.
The candidates' projects were evaluated by a subcommittee of the Academic Council, which was also present at the award ceremony. After Dean Anne-Mette Hvas presented the prizes, it was time for celebration, with family, supervisors, and fellow students in attendance.
