Professor Claus Nerlov is a recognized world leader in hematopoiesis, as well as a pioneer in single cell biology (SCB) and mouse genetics.
His lab has used single cell technologies to discover novel hematopoietic stem cell and -progenitor populations (1-4) significantly revising our understanding of the cellular pathways of blood formation fundamental to physiology and pathophysiology (5,6).
He has made seminal discoveries on the areas of hematopoietic stem cell and -progenitor biology, advancing our understanding of the cellular heterogeneity of hematopoiesis, as well as the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which blood cell types are specified. In addition to his fundamental work on the blood system, he has contributed significantly to the fields of myeloid leukemias and physiological ageing.
